Lesley Webb is an Advocate, Commissioner for Oaths and the managing partner of Callin Wild LLC. Lesley was called to the Manx Bar in September 2001 and became a partner in the predecessor for to Callin Wild in 2005. She served as a member of Council of the Isle of Man Law Society from 2010 to 2014 and is currently sitting as a deputy Chair to the Employment Tribunal.
As a result of the dedication of Callin Wild to proving the full range of legal services in the local market Lesley trained as a general practitioner giving her insight into a wide range of legal issues.
While Lesley now specialises in commercial work her reputation locally is as a result of the high value matrimonial disputes she has been involved in before the Court and in having assisted parties in achieving a negotiated settlement without having to instigate court proceedings.
Lesley now principally deals with commercial transactions both with Isle of Man entities and those international transactions where Isle of Man advice is required and commercial property transactions mostly within the local market. Lesley acted in the three largest commercial portfolio transactions that the Isle of Man had seen and which completed in 2012. Lesley is frequently instructed to provide advice in financial transactions to financial institutions lending funds for large scale commercial property developments. Lesley has recently been involved in a number of high profile local corporate acquisitions including the sale of West Corporation Limited to Equiom (Isle of Man) Limited and the management buyout of Itex (Isle of Man) Limited.
However, Lesley also has a depth of knowledge and expertise in relation to employment matters including successfully representing local employers before the Employment Tribunal, this work had led to her recent appointment as a Deputy Chair to the Employment Tribunal which sees Lesley take on her first semi-judicial role. The experience that Lesley has gained both from advising and representing Employers is invaluable in providing pro-active advice to ensure that Employers avoid making decisions which may result in claims being brought. She has been asked to review contracts, staff handbooks and procedural documentation for human resource departments and is happy to work with in house advisers in this area.
With the recent development of e-gaming business on the Isle of Man Lesley has assisted a number of entities both well established and start-up ventures with issues ranging from providing initial documentation to support the desired corporate structure, to documentation bringing entities together under a corporate umbrella for the licensing process, to data protection issues arising once trading, to employment issues both locally and with a view to international staff movement.
